Frengers
Mew
"Frengers" is the third studio album from the Danish band Mew and was originally released in 2003. The title is a contraction of the words "friend" (ven) and "stranger" (fremmed). According to the album's liner notes, a "Frenger" is a person who "is not quite a friend, but also not quite a stranger".
With "Frengers", Mew had their first big commercial breakthrough. The album has been described as "a work of quiet genius" that "aims for the epic without resorting to the bombastic and offers intelligent arrangements without compromising accessibility". Although Mew's music is often categorized as indie and at times progressive rock, one of the band members previously described their sound as follows: "I usually say that we are 'indie-stadium'.
"Frengers" is available on black vinyl and comes with a printed inner sleeve and a four-page booklet.
