In 1914, Enrique Larreta, Argentinean Ambassador to Paris, decried tango as a 'dance to be found in houses of ill repute and taverns of the basest kind'. However, names such as Boris Blacher, Igor Stravinsky and Bohuslav Martinů prove that it has shed its clichéd prejudices and penetrated the sacred halls of art music, as seen on this CD with Orchestal Tangos.
