Jorie Remus
A promising comedienne of the 1950's San Francisco club scene, Jorie Remus performed at the Purple Onion and the Hungry I. These appearances led to engagements in New York clubs and roles in television and Off- Broadway. Remus was a big influence on Phyllis Diller and was responsible for starting Maya Angelou on her career as a professional singer by arranging gigs for her at the Purple Onion. This exceptional album, recorded in 1960, offers a rare glimpse at her formidable comedy skills. All selections newly remastered.
