The Tiberi Tapes are exactly such a treasure. After having been hidden away for six decades, these recordings offer musical riches that extend far beyond the medium they were preserved on.

Among the most fabled recordings from the past 65 years are the private recordings of John Coltrane's group, made by musician Frank Tiberi in the early 1960s. They have long been the subject of rumors and intense speculation in the jazz world. Tiberi followed Coltrane around clubs in New York and Philadelphia, capturing the almost otherworldly music created night after night on his portable tape recorder.

For the very first time, these recordings will be released in November 2026 as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane's birth.
