Tommy The Who Numbered UHQR 200g Clarity Vinyl edition
Tommy
The Who
The Who’s groundbreaking concept album “Tommy” – a full-fledged rock opera – is a daring, rousing album that catapulted the band to international superstardom upon its initial release in May 1969 and definitively established The Who as one of the most ambitious forces in rock music. Conceived and written by guitarist Pete Townshend, “Tommy” tells the surreal story of a deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes a spiritual and cultural phenomenon. But beyond the narrative, the album is a masterpiece of songwriting and performance, packed with cult classics like “Pinball Wizard,” “I’m Free,” and the transcendent finale “We’re Not Gonna Take It/See Me, Feel Me,” which remain cornerstones of The Who’s live performances to this day. More than half a century later, “Tommy” remains one of the most celebrated and influential works in rock history. For fans of classic rock, it’s an absolute must-have; for audiophiles, it’s a groundbreaking recording! “Tommy” was certified three times gold and twice platinum worldwide for over 2.2 million units sold. According to sources, it has sold over 20 million copies, making it not only The Who’s best-selling release but also one of the world’s best-selling music albums.
Analogue Productions is now honoring this rock classic with a sonically outstanding UHQR double LP, strictly limited to 3,500 copies. The original tapes were mastered by Chris Bellmann at Bernie Grundman Mastering and feature a sound quality never before heard. The elaborately designed box set contains the records, cut at 33 RPM and pressed on 200-gram Clarity Vinyl®. The records are housed in heavyweight, old-style tip-on gatefold jacket from Stoughton Printing with a matte, scuff-resistant finish. Each UHQR is manufactured by Acoustic Sounds at industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP), inspected after pressing, and comes with a hand-signed certificate of authenticity: Only the truly flawless copies make it to market. From the explosive power of Keith Moon’s drumming to the thunderous drive of John Entwistle’s bass, right through to the shimmering acoustic passages and Roger Daltrey’s impressive vocals – this UHQR pressing lets “Tommy” breathe in a way that few albums have ever managed. A truly luxurious collector’s item!
