The Who’s explosive debut still sounds like a shock to the senses today – and “My Generation” remains one of the most powerful debut albums in rock history! The album was originally released in 1965, reached No. 5 on the British charts, and instantly propelled the band to worldwide fame. “My Generation” captured the raw energy of the British mod scene in the mid-1960s and introduced Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle, and Keith Moon to the public for the first time. The aggressive sound, the feedback, and the power chords laid the foundation for the hard rock and punk movements that followed decades later. Album highlights included the title track with its defiant lyric “...hope I die before I get old” and one of the first bass solos in rock history. Also unforgettable are “The Kids Are Alright,” a magnificent pop composition by Townshend, as well as “A Legal Matter” and “Out In The Street.” The instrumental track “The Ox” showcases Entwistle’s thunderous bass playing and the band’s explosive chemistry in their early days. From the first bar to the last, “My Generation” is a rousing testament to a band that was about to change rock ’n’ roll forever!

Analogue Productions is now honoring this rock milestone with a collector’s-grade double LP – pressed on 180-gram vinyl by industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP), cut at 45 RPM, and housed in a luxurious, scuff-resistant, old-style tip-on gatefold jacket from Stoughton Printing with a matte finish. Chris Bellmann at Bernie Grundman Mastering was responsible for the meticulous remastering, which was done directly from the original tapes. This reissue proves just how fantastic mono recordings can sound when they’ve been remastered specifically for playback with modern stereo cartridges!
