Richard Jones: Suits Or Setts Of Lessons. London 1732
Fernando De Luca
Little is known of Richard Jones, Handel’s contemporary and concertmaster at Drury Lane, yet his Six Suites for keyboard offer a vivid testimony to his gifts. Delightful to hear, rich in stylistic variety and hints of national character, they stand apart through their unusual ordering of dances and preserve the voice of a strikingly original eighteenth-century English musician.
