DallAbaco. Barriere. Marcello: 18Th Century Cello Trios
Ensemble Tiefsait
This Da Vinci Classics album explores the cello’s eighteenth-century rise from accompanying bass instrument to independent solo voice. In a trio of three cellos, works by Giuseppe Clemente Dall’Abaco, Jean-Baptiste Barrière and Benedetto Marcello reveal a wide variety of timbres and styles, from trios and caprices to sonatas à tre, in a programme centred on colour, dialogue and invention.
