1950s rendering of the novel by George Orwell. In a futuristic, state-run society controlled by 'Big Brother', where love is outlawed, employee of the state Winston Smith (Edmond O'Brien) falls for Julia (Jan Sterling), and is tortured and brainwashed for his crime.
