Julia Holter | Materia

Following the acclaimed Something in the Room She Moves, Julia Holter returns with Materia, a companion album that revisits and expands the musical ideas first explored on its predecessor. Rather than serving as a conventional follow-up, Materia offers a parallel perspective, reimagining existing material while introducing new compositions conceived during and after the sessions for the 2024 album.

Written and recorded with her touring band between concert runs, the album embraces Holter's instinct for continual reinvention. Central to the project are two new interpretations of the song "Materia," each illuminating different emotional and sonic possibilities, while additional tracks evolved directly from the creative process behind Something in the Room She Moves. The result is a collection that blurs the boundaries between companion piece, sequel, and standalone work.
