I Promise, I Will is a fictional account following Tom Springer over many years as he finds a purpose and direction in his life, and develops a love relationship with his future wife, Shirley Cobb, in rural southern Ohio during the mid-1960s. He encounters spiritual struggles dealing with the health of his mom as well as separation from Shirley when he joins the Marine Corps. Shirley is instrumental in Tom's faith and character development.
