Gerhardt Kramer is a frightened fifteen year-old boy who is forced to work in a concentration camp and who must face his fears head-on. Sally Grünwald a sixteen year-old who is forced to flee Nazi Germany, and who later finds the courage to become a member of an underground network. And finally, Luise Odenthal, a hardened Nazi soldier who finds, quite unexpectedly, that she is not as unfeeling as she thinks.
