Living with his abusive father, Darrel Grey must come of age in the horrific inner city environment of "the Ghetto." As he struggles to survive in the harsh landscape of the Ghetto, Darrel must find a way -- any way -- to convince his mother to leave with him and start a new life. But as he battles immense suffering and the horrors of a strange street drug known as "Street Water," and a nefarious agricultural corporation known as Lucanto, Darrel eventually learns that the life and people and activities in the Ghetto, including the father he hates, are not as black and white as they seem. In struggling to survive and escape, he lives the grey.
