Some people are born under a bad sign and outside of society. This hard-core noir novel follows the lives of three bad luck individuals. Joyce Cassel - a lonely woman raised on a farm in Storm Lake, Iowa, who is sexually abused by her father, runs away from home as a teenager, and turns to prostitution to survive that comes with the harsh price of flesh and addiction. Jason Dean - the son of Little Joe and Joyce, who finds himself torn between the love for his father and mother, fails at every attempt to fit in at school, and joins a gang that comes with the hollow price of no true identity and life.
