Curriculum distortion leads to poor learning contexts and lower achievement levels. Curriculum and assessment need alignment. Continuous assessment is a relevant tool to quality education. The book deals with the evaluation of the Continuous Assessment pilot programme aimed at ascertaining the factors that influenced the successful or unsuccessful implementation of the programme. Chapter one reviews the Zambian education context with special focus on classroom teaching and learning processes. Chapter 2 discusses the different types of assessment and their influence on the teaching and learning processes. Chapter 3 provides a review of the various models of curriculum evaluation with a view to considering their appropriateness in the research design. Chapter 4 discusses models of curriculum implementation and the factors that hinder or promote successful implementation. Chapter 5 describes the research used in conducting the formative evaluation study. Chapters 6, 7 and 8 present findings from the different stakeholders. Chapter nine presents the conclusions and suggested recommendations for implementation.
