What are the treatment techniques for truancy reduction? There are many treatment techniques under behavioural therapy outlined in literature. This book examines the effectiveness of two of these techniques (contingency management and the systematic desensitization) in the reduction of truancy behaviour among secondary school adolescents. The study made use of gender personality types and family structure as intervening variables. The treatment programmes were carried out, relevant data collected and analyzed using statistical analysis. The results of the findings are as follows: ?Both contingency management and systematic desensitization techniques were effective in reducing truant behaviour among secondary school adolescents; ?In reducing truant behaviour among secondary school adolescents, contingency management was superior; ?Both contingency management and systematic desensitization techniques were effective in the reduction of truant behaviour. This text is intended for teachers, counsellors, psychologists, parents, governments, educators, social workers and all those able to contribute to educational policy and practice.
