It used to be that missionaries from the West had to come to Africa to do mission. Today there is a changing face of missions in two main directions. Africa is sending pastors and priests to minister in the West and in Europe. But on another level cities in Africa have taken phenomenal turn in their growth that the church needs to pay attention to another vital aspect of its ministry. This is what is called urban ministry. It presents challenges to the pastor that was trained in a seminary with a rural ministry mindset. Such pastor or priest is going to face new challenges in his ministry to which no reference was made during his seminary training. That is why Nigerian seminaries need to be awakened to this new trend of doing ministry.
