Water Availability and Reservoir Operation: Studies of Hingol Dam

Hingol is the largest perennial river of Balochistan, Pakistan. Catchment area of Hingol Dam is 13745 sq miles. This work concerned with the available flows and the analysis of Dam capacity and the hydropower generation. Flow duration curve, sequent peak analysis, ripple mass curve, area-elevation curve and the software DRW is used for analysis. It is estimated that 335000 AF water will be available annually. Normal conservation level is 145 ft asl. The average annual release from reservoir amount to 73% of the total demand over the entire life of the Hingol Dam. DRW has shown 0.09 probability of failure.
