Robert T Chambers
Elizabeth Stephenson is a Canadian combat engineer captain sent to assist a 25th Marine Infantry Battalion in securing a town in Afghanistan. She is badly injured. After recovery, she goes to reserve status and becomes a civilian engineer. She meets an asocial, non-military, geek, civil engineer Derrick Norman, with whom she starts a relationship. The story is of her battle with PTSD and her angst over reentry into civilian life. Derrick learns about the military and how to deal with Elizabeth's PTSD. Despite their attraction to each other, neither party is sure they want the relationship or that it is even possible
