Ex-paratrooper Craig Swan is given a second chance to become one of the elite Smokejumper wildfire fighters. After an accelerated training program, he is introduced to his team and prepared to make a jump into the fight against the massive and remote Capstone Ridge fire. Preparing for a hazardous parachute jump with all the needed supplies and equipment is no small undertaking that leaves no room for error. These are superbly trained professionals, though, and they are ready to meet the challenges. All goes well until the landing after the jump when things immediately start going wrong.
