Adventures of Ninja Jack: Respect and Manners not only teaches children to read, but also teaches them good manners and how to be respectful. The book takes children on a fun adventure with a boy named Jack, who wants to be a ninja one day; therefore, he attends a ninja school to learn to be a ninja. He starts his ninja training with his teacher, and she teaches him the foundations of being a ninja with kicks, punches, standing positions, and most importantly respect and manners. This book not only is fun to read, but also helps children to read. This children's book has many of the words children learn in kindergarten and first grade, and it was written with those grades in mind. It has some repetition to get children accustom to seeing the words and recognizing them. It also has illustrations to keep children interested. It starts with only a few shorter sentences at the beginning of the book and slowly starts challenging the reader with more words and longer sentences. Towards the end of the book it sums up the story and gives the reader a chance to master what they have learned in the book. The other books in the series also aid kindergartners and first graders with using the same words, adding new ones, and fun repetition to get them ready for all they need to know and learn to move on in reading for second grade. Second graders could even enjoy reading these books to practice reading for speed and as a refresher. I hope you enjoy reading, helping read, and listening to your child read this book.
