Detective Charlotte Rittenhouse of the Northeastern Major Crimes Task Force has been assigned to investigate the brutal murders of four women in northern Iowa. While it's clear that the murders are connected, it isn't clear until a fifth woman is taken that they are tied to a series of murders in Chicago almost 10 years earlier. Now Rittenhouse must try to enlist the aid of disgraced US Marshal, National Jones who failed to bring the killer to justice a decade ago. If she, along with a mutual acquaintance, a failure in his own right, can convince Jones to take another bite at the apple, they may just find the missing woman before she ends up as the fifth victim of the infamous Tooth Fairy.
