When ISIS invaded the Yezidi areas around Mount Sinjar in Northern Iraq, one village waited, and hoped, while others fled. The result was disastrous. The men were immediately executed, the older women buried alive, the younger women and girls sold into sexual slavery, and the boys brainwashed into serving ISIS fighters. The babies resulting from rape suffered a worse fate, pulled from their mother's arms and abandoned. This is the true and compelling story of the Kocho massacre seen through the eyes of a small group of related family members. The struggles of the survivors compel us all to help them.
