This story was originally conceived as the basis for an opera libretto for my friend, the late Manual Gonzalez Lincoln Center in New York. The action takes place at Fort Maurepas, a thriving trading center of the French territories along the Mississippi river during the early years of the reign of Louis XV just about the time when John Law would finally be discredited (1719) for his famous financial schemes in both the Old and New Worlds. The name of the work derives from the historic child of a Native American princess and Pierre Le Moyne, the French explorer.
