1874-1877 saw the climax of the Indian Wars on the plains at the Little Bighorn River. Lt. John Nichols and four of his friends were under Lt. Colonel George Custer's command in the Seventh Cavalry. Yellow Flower and her Cheyenne family, Crazy Horse, Gall, and 16 year-old Charging Bear were all enjoying a peaceful morning on June 25th, 1876. Gunfire disrupted their peace and tranquility, and the lives of everyone on both sides.
