Emmitt Morris was an underground miner who was blessed to even be working in the great depression era. His boss, Butch, was an overbearing bully and happened to be the mine owner's son. Butch beat his wife and abused his son. This fact made Emmitt, who had a wife and three children, dislike Butch. The two men fought, and the next morning Butch was found dead, stabbed seven times with Emmitt's knife in his back.
