An adventure story with a deep message, the tale of Robin Hood as it has never been told before. Lady Marion of Loxley and her sister Beatrice join the band of outlaws in Sherwood Forest who help the poor and steal the Sheriff of Nottingham's gold. During one summer five of the iconic outlaw characters each undergo an individual quest that resolves, or fails to resolve, their problems. Each is suffering from difficulties that arise from the five conditions known in Buddhism are as the roots of suffering. Friar Tuck, who has closed his mind against all non-Christians, has a strange encounter with Merlin the Magician. Beatrice must let go of things she is attached to before her life can move on. The forest if alive with mysteries and secrets, the greatest of which concerns Robin Hood. Where is he? Why is he the character that represents illusion? As the story unfolds in Sherwood Forest a 21st century journalist lies in hospital after a road accident. He too must confront the roots of what is wrong with his life and gradually he experiences dreams and revelations that lead him to write the story of the Sherwood outlaws.
