Thunder In Sinai follows the actions of William Smith, an American, who works for Yitzhak Kahan, Deputy Director of Mossad, during the Yom Kippur War in 1973. He is caught up the events of the war when Egypt is determined to recover the Sinai Peninsula and Syria plots to retake the Golan Heights, both lost to Israel during the Six Day War in 1967. On October 6th, the two nations launched a surprise attack against Israel on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The United States and the USSR faced off in a naval showdown in the Mediterranean Sea in support of their allies, resulting in the most dangerous confrontation of the Cold War. Never again would the two Superpowers have such large forces arrayed against each other in such a small area and bring the world to the brink of nuclear war.
