The creatures of Great Meadow feel the same joys and suffer the same fears as human children. Nell Hedge is learning to manage her anxiety with the help of her friends and family. This is an engaging teaching and counseling tool as well as a charming bedtime story. It is the first in a series about the inhabitants of Great Meadow. Later stories will find our friends dealing with abandonment and mean girl issues, as well as singing in the school talent contest and raising money for refugees.

Highly interesting to children - "Congratulations on your magnificent manuscript of Nervous Nellie. I especially love the depth of message addressing the emotional development of children. I was a Nervous Nellie student but was unable to curl up. Character development (both moral and temperament) portrayed through animals is clever, respectful and highly interesting to children. And so many positive life lessons! I also deeply appreciate the exposure to the liberal arts education within the story line; music, history, geography and more. As an educator, I would be able to expand upon the text with many valuable extension lessons."-Shirley Francis, School Administrator and Educator

Validating and empowering- "As a parent of children with anxiety (and an anxiety sufferer myself) it is heartwarming to see them discover a storybook character that validates their day to day reality: from nervous stomach aches and crippling fear of the new, to the support both at home and at school that highlights accomplishments and leads to empowerment. That this is done through a charming story and with delightful animal characters makes it even more meaningful to all of us. Thank you for making their invisible disability, visible and for showing them that taking chances is often worth the risk."-Karina Coombs, Writer

Exploring and Learning- "The Story of Nellie Hedge exploring her feelings and learning to manage her anxiety is an engaging way to to support young children who also experience anxiety. The beautiful illustrations and interesting character profiles invite readers into Nellie's world, and provide a comfortable platform with which to draw parallels to a reader's experience. This story is a great tool for use in a counseling session or for a bedtime story. Well done!" Katie Rupprecht, CAGS, NCSP School Psychologist
