"Infectious" highlights the achievements of the past. During the 1950's to 70's Australia had an urgent need to get infectious diseases under control, it was imperative to the nation. Vaccination programs had been introduced and were proving so successful that we needed to ensure the program was taken up by the general population. The book records the results of infectious diseases as seen through the eyes of a nursing sister. The devastation that was inflicted on families' who had members struck down with these diseases. The life-long crippling affects on many patients. The message is to demonstrate that there are two sides to the "Immunization Programs" and that compulsory immunization all but eradicated the majority of infectious diseases in Australia during that period.
