These are beautiful, thoughtful poems, but never weighed down; in fact, the collection is infused with many surprising and pleasing moments of humor and light. The speaker often feels like a bit of an outsider, an observer of relationships, but the desire for human connection is real, and deeply felt. I very much admire [Kris Kunz's] refusal to settle for easy answers: there's a full-on grappling with life's complexities happening in these words. "This is how it works," the poet writes, "beauty and chaos under a watchful eye," and isn't that as lovely a definition of poetry as you'll find?- Amorak Huey
