Publisher Marketing: ADRIFT is about aging, youth, love, passion, humor, adventure and responsibility. Dan's wife has just died. He feels old and alone. Can he find a reason to live again? Away from the cold and slush of New England, maybe he can find it in St. Augustine. Lovely Patricia and daughter Penny have a wonderful new sailboat. They need someone to teach them how to sail and defend themselves. Dan is just the right person. He is adopted and moves in. Patricia is attacked by a rapist/killer. Dan helps her fight him off and they dump the body at sea. They learn to shoot, sail and cruise the Bahamas and down the island chain to the British Virgin Islands. Along the way we find that Penny is Patricia's clone and that another clone, Petra, comes to live with them. There may be several others out there. Patricia is in hiding from her mobster family, the US government, and religious fanatics. Sailing the islands, they encounter dangerous modern pirates, shipwrecks, treasure and North Korean commandos. Storms, shoals and other hazards keep the excitement high. They flee to Cancun and then Belize. A married pair of doctors join the action and cruise with them. Some of Dan's medical conditions are cured and an experimental drug helps repair many of the damages of aging. His body starts to become younger, stronger and healthier. The mob has identified Pat and the people she is traveling with. There is a driving need for them to find and punish her - fatally. Patricia decides to sell the boat to the doctors and they all flee to Great Grandma Tess's ranch in Texas for safety. Contributor Bio:  Fike, Carl L Carl L. Fike has published the novels ADRIFT and FORTRESS TEXAS, and SOME REDHEADS ARE ALIENS. The fourth book in the series, MULTIPLES, is nearing completion and publication. His stories are enriched by his own experiences in the places his characters visit. One starts in a Maine town east of Fryeburg in a house where he actually lived. Carl was raised on a farm in Michigan but came to New Hampshire to attend Dartmouth College and do graduate work at UNH. He considers the Conway/Fryeburg area as his home. Professionally he taught in various schools in New England then went overseas to teach three years in Kuwait, three in Bahrain, two in the Congo, one in Vienna and one in Slovakia. He also started and operated a company that designed and built passive solar homes. His tales are often enriched by his sailing experiences. Living on a boat and cruising the New England coast was followed by being a crewmember on the Bounty and the Endeavor. He has also cruised most of the USA in a motor home, cruised the Bahamas and Virgin Islands in sailing vessels and traveled extensively in Europe and the Middle East. Fike's stories combine adventure, danger, romance, humor and philosophy. They all are part of the series; OLD LIBERALS NEVER DIE.....
