This is a love story that unfolds during a search for an arsenic source that is polluting the drinking water for the small city of Cameo. Dan, a pollution sleuth, rents a roon at Gert's alcoholic rehab home He discovers that his partner, Jessie, lives next door. In addition to the arsenic search and his growing love for Jessie, Dan gets involved with Gert's daughter, Heather, who Gert has not forgiven for a breach of trust two years ago. Dan becomes friends with the four alcoholics living at the hiome, who provide some comic relief. As the pieces of the arsenic mystery start fitting together, Dan and Jessie spend a terrifying night on Chicken Poop Hill digging out the fianl answer.
