The best thing to come out of Canada since...well everything!

Affinity is the stunning debut by Edmonton based author Christian Bewell which blows the lid off of conventional teen-lit by adding an edgy new take on things. It concerns the future of the book's protagonist, fifteen year old Adam Jewison, whose brother had passed away over the summer and dealing with that horrible occurrence has taken a massive toll on his psyche. Alas, he goes back to school where he meets a fish out of water who goes by the name of Tia. His budding relationship with her results in a school suspension, a short lived romantic affair which ends badly and an incident which sets the stage for the powerful conclusion. Among the eclectic group of misfits he encounters along the way include a girl who basically does not understand the idea of clothing, a chicken eating gothic homosexual, apathetic parents with divorce looming over their heads, a bus driver with no sense of morality, a store owner with no sense of morality, another girl who steals his heart and many more twisted people and situations. Their whole world implodes in on them with a cataclysmic force and a thrilling climax. It has to be read to be believed!
