"Marvelous" Manfred Manybucks, a rich land developer, controls everybody he meets to get his way. But when he tries to turn a portion of the Everglades into a glitzy development, he meets his match in "Swampy," a native American Calusa,and his wildlife friends. Ajaja the spoonbill, Lagarto the alligator and other woodland creatures carry out a dramatic plan to rescue their home. Many bucks has a change of heart. He comes to appreciate their Everglades habitat. He learns to honor the simple life of those who are in tune with nature. He learns humility.
