A bomb has dropped on Washington DC, leaving behind historical ruins and a sinister virus. Ordinary citizens have been turned into flesh starved monsters. Kate was out of town when the bombs fell, but her daughter and husband were not so lucky. Despite her husband's name on the ever growing list of casualties, Kate knows that her daughter is still alive. She can feel it. Autumn barely escaped the infection that swallowed her hometown. Along with her best friend, Collins, they have taken to the sea. But dwindling supplies force them toward the shore where they realize DC isn't exactly how they pictured it.
