Viola Weatherspoon and Tyrone Landowski are an unlikely team. Residents of Glendon Hills Retirement Community they?ve become fast friends. Vi, a former executive director for the Girl Scouts and Ty, who worked for the State Department, team up to solve the death of fellow resident Ralph Duncan. After encountering his wife in the hall holding a bloody knife, they are propelled into a journey of twists and turns to prove her innocence. When Phyllis Duncan is arrested on a charge of murder, Vi turns to the husband of her niece, Cliff Holcomb, a defense attorney, for help. But instead of planning a defense to exonerate Phyllis, he decides to plead insanity after Phyllis attempts suicide. Vi cannot tolerate the thought of Phyllis spending the rest of her life in a mental hospital so she and Ty investigate on their own. While they are interviewing past coworkers and neighbors of Ralph, an unknown distant relative comes into Ty?s life with an urgent request. Just when it seems that Phyllis has no recourse but to plead insanity a series of shocking circumstances bring the real killer to light.
