Leon Chameides, MD, Emeritus Director of Pediatric Cardiology at Connecticut Children's Medical Center and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, has researched his family's genealogy for almost 25 years. This book documents the results of his research. It starts in Galicia and Germany at the end of the 18th century and follows his family experiences through WW II, including his own memories of being hidden as a child in a Ukrainian monastery. The story shows the expanse of modern Jewish history by following the trials of one family. It demonstrates the tragedies and frailties, as well as the triumph and resilience of the Jewish people.
