On the day of John F. Kennedy's assassination, a young woman died, after giving birth to twin girls. Her boyfriend Greg was never told of the pregnancy. His wealthy father made sure of that. Twenty years later Greg, a successful businessman is standing for election. A beautiful girl, named Rachel, interviews him for the Chronicle. He notices that she looks exactly like his his long lost Jennifer. He is invited to speak at the local school, and again notes the first year teacher, Joanne also looks like long lost Jennifer. Joanne knows that she is adopted, and imagines seeing her twin several times. Rachel has never been told the truth about her birth, but learns of her adoption, meets her twin, and turns her life upside down.
